All in! This was the theme of the recent Community Foundations of Canada conference where over 800 attendees from 15 countries joined together in Victoria to share in learning, to explore opportunities, and to challenge what is the true meaning of belonging. Communities are built of individuals who desire to be part of something greater than themselves.
Belonging is just as essential as air, water and food. The opposite of belonging is fitting in. As you go about your daily activities at work, volunteering, at home or out in the community, I encourage you to look at ways you are welcoming and creating a stronger sense of inclusion and belonging in our community. When we reach out to others with an extra smile, offer extra support and take time to get to know each other, we are creating relationships, and relationships are built at the speed of trust.
I ask you to join me in being All In! Let’s choose to belong – to be All in!
Please feel free to contact me at (780) 538-2820 to discuss how you can partner with the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta in building community, connecting people and increasing our collective sense of belonging throughout the region.
Connect people. Build community. For good, and forever.
Thank you to our community members for joining and learning with us from our special guest Paul Nazareth, VP of Education & Development, CAGP.

KMSC Law LLP
At KMSC Law LLP we are proud of our deep roots in the Peace Region. We recognize and believe in both supporting and giving back to our community. We have found the Community Foundation an excellent channel to do just that. This organization was founded by the community itself with the focus of ongoing, sustainable community support. Not only does this align with KMSC’s culture of being a contributing member of our community but also offers sustainability. Together we are working toward bettering not only lives today, but for tomorrow. We are proud to partner with the Community Foundation through our KMSC Law Fund and encourage you to pursue the same. Together, we can make a difference.
Community Foundations of Canada Conference
The Community Foundations of Canada Conference was an incredible opportunity to connect with emerging leaders from across Canada and Community Foundations from around the world.
The Conference was filled with conversation and learning about inclusion, diversity, decolonization, and shifting power within our communities. The sessions challenged Foundations to look to the future of giving and to seek communities that are traditionally not included in philanthropic conversations.
There were countless experiences that energized my heart and infused the desire to create a Grande Prairie where we all feel a sense of belonging, connection, and community.
Countless next steps have emerged from the conference, I am looking forward to connecting with the rest of our local Foundation Board to share my learnings and focus the energy and excitement into tangible outcomes that better our community.
Thank you to RBC for sponsoring the National Youth Delegation’s attendance at the conference, as an organization they embody innovation and demonstrate what it means to embrace the future.
Most importantly, a BIG thank you to the team at the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, who are relentless cheerleaders and curators of opportunity.
