With a dream of teaching and a love of language, MacPhee completed her degree and was accepted to a Government of Canada program in Chicoutimi, Quebec. There she connected with the French culture and developed her own language abilities whilst sharing the English language with primary-aged ESL learners.
MacPhee then began to apply for positions abroad, landing her current job as a full-time French teacher in Egypt. “The students and myself continue to learn and grow each and every day,” she says. “This award had a huge impact on me as it helped me pursue my dreams.”
Applications for student awards will be available in the spring at the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta. Join our newsletter and watch for updates on our website.
