Hannah loved socializing and could talk to anyone no matter his or her age. People that knew Hannah found her maturity beyond her tender years because she easily connected and conversed.
Hannah loved to dance and compete. Dance inspired her confidence, made her feel beautiful, and commanded the attention she loved. As a young dancer, she was the cutest little hip hopper. When Hannah was at home, the sounds of her music filled the air. Even the shower could not compete because Hannah just turned it up louder! As a friend, Hannah was kind and caring. Her friends cherish the memories of many fun filled sleepovers.
Hannah’s family and friends deeply love and miss her beyond expression. Hannah remains in many hearts.
Hannah died by suicide on May 15th, 2012 at 15 years of age.
Today and tomorrow, Hannah’s story weaves through the fabric of our community. Her story has a profound impact on our learning and in simple terms, reveals clues to the connection of cause and effect. In memory of Hannah and with care and concern for our youth, Andre, Tammy, Keifer, and Madeline Ouellette worked with the Community Foundation to create a legacy fund in Hannah’s name. The Hannah Ouellette Memorial Supporting Suicide Prevention Resource Centre Fund is dedicated to The Breakfast Club, a local program to help teens and 9-12 year olds who are dealing with problems such as conflict with family or friends, school issues, stress, self-esteem issues or emotional struggles.
