The impact the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta has on the communities and people it serves has been just one of the takeaways for Clyde and Mary Blackburn since becoming involved with the community foundation more than 20 years ago.
The couple established the Clyde and Mary Blackburn Family Fund in 2005, and were exceedingly proud when they found out their fund had grown to the point it was providing funding to others in the community.
“The community foundation is a tremendous mentor,” he says. “They have helped other not-for-profits and charitable organizations to grow and have mentored them to help them succeed and are always willing to share their knowledge and resources.”
“We like that the commitment to donate can be short or long term. You can give what you can, when you can,” says Mary.
Clyde adds that Grande Prairie is a tight knit community and that many areas including the arts, culture and service clubs have all been enhanced by the granting power of the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.
“They (CF) help make living in Grande Prairie great,” he smiles. “The Community Foundation is an integral part of the fabric of our community and that makes us really proud to be fund holders.”
You can make a difference in our community – not only for today but forever. When you make a donation to the Clyde and Mary Blackburn Family Fund, we invest that gift into a permanent endowment fund and the original gift is never spent. Earnings from your gift are distributed in our community to support all needs in the community. Donations can be made online here – https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/43244 or by calling the Community Foundation at (780) 538-2820.
