Community Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Imagine a day dedicated to giving back … around the world, across Canada and in your own community! Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season and the perfect day to consider donating to the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.

Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving and is coming to Northwestern Alberta on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. It is a new Canadian movement for giving and volunteering, taking place after Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday started in Canada in 2013 by a group of organizations including GIV3, CanadaHelps.org, and now includes over 1,900 partners. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join to share commitments, rally for favorite causes and think about others. We invite you to become involved.

Consider making a donation to your legacy fund or in support of a cause important to you. If you have any questions about making a donation please contact us at 1 780 538 2820 or via email. You can also donate through our website via our Online page.

On behalf of our community, we say thank you for being part of the movement!

At the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta, we know your community matters.

Your Community Foundation has the pulse on our growing and changing region. Each year, we support a wide range of innovative projects and organizations that are changing people's lives, helping create more vibrant, livable communities. As a Community Foundation, we support causes you care about from ALL areas of the community, providing healthy food for kids, making our communities greener, improving access to post-secondary education, supporting creativity, helping the most challenged members of our communities, and so much more.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new website! We invite you to tour the site and provide your feedback. Our goal is to take you on a journey on the impact of our partnerships and to inform you on our current activities.

"There's nothing quite as powerful as people feeling they can have impact and make a difference.

When you've got that going for you,

I think it's a very powerful way to implement change."

Anne M. Mulcahy

As we move into summer spending time outdoors with family and friends, planning summer holidays and enjoying the extended daylight time, this is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the gift of a Community Foundation and the impact our organizations contribute to society.

The Community Foundation exists to nurture a healthy, vibrant, giving and caring community that values diversity and supports all people, a community where citizens are engaged, and where a strong and sustainable charitable sector serves the current and emerging needs of the community.

Imagine a community where citizens are engaged in community building at all levels. Imagine a community that is healthy and vibrant, that embraces diversity and supports all its members. Imagine a community where a strong and sustainable charitable sector serves community needs.

Connect People. Build Community. For Good, and Forever.

"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." ~Francis of Assisi

Our team wasfortunate to have attended the Community Foundations of Canada Conference held in Calgary in early May, "The Wild Wild Why". . .

We were inspired by the over 600 delegates from across the globe with a common message about The Community Foundation Movement and the specific purpose to serve our communities. Our movement is a resilient and diverse engaging communities we live in.

What is Your "Why"?
