“It's interesting how giving in your community often comes back to impact you in ways you least suspect.”
― Words from a Community Foundation Fund holder

One day there was a dream . . . to build a Community Foundation, an organization that would be here long term to support the community now and forever.

November 2015

"Success is finding satisfaction in giving a little more than you take"
Christopher Reeve

I love when November rolls in; it is the month of days shortening, birds parting, snow beginning to carpet the fields getting them ready for winter. It is a time to go inward and reflect on this year's successes and activities....

Community Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Imagine a day dedicated to giving back … around the world, across Canada and in your own community! Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season and the perfect day to consider donating to the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.

Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving and is coming to Northwestern Alberta on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. It is a new Canadian movement for giving and volunteering, taking place after Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday started in Canada in 2013 by a group of organizations including GIV3, CanadaHelps.org, and now includes over 1,900 partners. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join to share commitments, rally for favorite causes and think about others. We invite you to become involved.

Simply stated, a "community" has been defined as a group of interacting people living in a common location. To put it another way, a "community" is made up of people who share a feeling of fellowship and belonging, sharing common attitudes, interests and goals.
