The Peace Country Wilderness Therapy Program operated by PACE challenges youth to a variety of wilderness experiences throughout the year as personality building with a goal of growth development, this program received a $5,000 grant in 2008 and $500 in 2010.

Clientele are referred by Child & Family Services, Community Corrections, AADAC, the Grande Prairie Young Offender Centre, school divisions, and the general public with the purpose of providing an opportunity to facilitate emotional growth within the youths referred. Addiction, depression, defiance, criminal behavior, truancy, history of abuse, anxiety and other disorders are some of the issues that are addressed through the use of individual therapy, group counseling, and the wilderness experience.

By intervening in a young person’s life at a time when it is most crucial, in addressing these issues, our hope is to create a better, stronger and healthier community for tomorrow.
