Building Tomorrow Today

Grants

The goal of the Community Foundation of Greater Grande Prairie is to turn our vision of improving the quality of life in the Grande Prairie area through the creation and management of funds, gifted in perpetuity, and the distribution of their earnings for charitable purposes into a reality. We strive to do this by connecting our community with the resources it needs to thrive.

Thanks to the foresight and generosity of generations of donors, we are able to invest in Greater Grande Prairie’s future. Our role is to make grants to a wide range of local charitable organizations which, in turn, help strengthen all of our neighbourhoods and families. In the 2005 fiscal year, the Foundation distributed over $116,500 to 31 local groups.

Grant Process

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall policies and practices of the Community Foundation of Greater Grande Prairie. In considering applications for funding, the Board relies on the recommendations of the Grant Making committee. The Grant Making committee is made of volunteers with a wide variety of knowledge and expertise. We look for opportunities to fund projects that will have direct impact on people’s lives and on the effective functioning of the organizations themselves. Our reach is wide and is felt across the community.

In addition to applying for grants, your charitable organization may also be interested in starting an agency fund.

Supporting Individuals & Community

There are so many important things to accomplish right here in our community to better the quality of life, to improve health care and living conditions, to foster creativity, and to preserve our beautiful environment. By supporting charitable agencies we are really supporting individuals with specific needs in our community. Senior citizens, children, artists, people facing health challenges, members of multicultural groups and many others each benefit from the services and programs of charitable organizations. By funding these organizations, we strengthen the community as a whole.
